“SMART” is a popular mnemonic for advice on how to set goals effectively. The typical definition is: {Specific}, {Measurable}, {Achievable}, {Relevant}, and {Time-bound}.
It was originally proposed by George Doran (1981) as Specific, Measurable, Assignable, Realistic, and Time-related.
