Headless CMS

Traditional content management tools are responsible for authoring tools, storage and infrastructure, and also the frontend used by visitors. Headless CMSs consciously separate the administrative “back of house” from the web app which renders that content via an API layer. Some headless CMSs include frontend web apps which you can use or not (e.g. Ghost); others do include only the administrative interface (e.g. Contentful).
