    • Used Anki with daughter since age 2 (age 3 as of post). Made flashcards for letters, words.
    • At 2.5, added Spanish, then Hebrew
    • Did ~10 reviews per day
    • Recently (~3) added some basic math cards (“What is 5 + 1?”) and “kindergarten gifted tests”, like “What rhymes with blue?”
    • Adds sentences or short paragraphs from children’s books above her grade level
    • Rating done by parent

    • Started with 1 year old son
    • Daughter now 5, still using Anki every day for languages
    • “teachers said she definitely has the reading ability of fifth grade"
    • has been adding cards in many other topics (e.g. immune system, music)
    • “daughter gets an hour of tablet or cellphone playtime a day if she does her Anki”
      • wife does Anki with daughter, husband creates and manages decks
      • does 10 English, 10 Hebrew, and 10 Spanish cards per day
      • “sometimes it’s a struggle to get her to finish”
    • less impressive advances in Hebrew and Spanish; author thinks it’s because they don’t speak the languages at home, and because they don’t show her “cool stuff” in those other languages

    • “A four year old with a 3rd grade reading ability learns about a WHOLE lot more -- it opened up politics for her. She would read our junk mail, and learn who our council member was, who our representative is, the mayor, current events, history, etc. I know it's stupid of me to say, but I underestimated the effect that reading early would have on her breadth of learning.”
    • Did a lot more math with son.
    • Stopped doing Anki with daughter (she’s 7)
    • “I’d say her mechanical reading is high school level … But her reading comprehension is more age-appropriate.”
    • Doesn’t think there’s much Anki can do for reading comprehension
    • “Hannah went through a phase where she didn't want to do it. We tried to compromise and work through it. Eventually, it became part of her "job" -- we told her that every human has a job, and her job was to do Anki.”
