This book was Nick’s doctoral dissertation. It’s presented as a comic, using the medium both to present and to represent its claim: that visuals are an important way to access nuance and multifaceted perspectives that are poorly represented by prose and analytical thought. And by “visuals,” he doesn’t just mean figures, embedded in prose—he means full graphic compositions, inverting the role of text and imagery:
