Quantum Country readers forget about as many times before their first successful repetition as they do in the following half year

Of Quantum Country readers who review all 112 QCVC questions for at least half a year (N=107), the median (IQR) number of lapses* over the first half year is 11 (5-20), and the median (IQR) number of failed attempts before the first successful repetition is 8 (5-19). This suggests to me that there are really two phases to the learning process on Quantum Country: some initial learning phase, followed by a separate long-term reinforcement phase. The system may want to behave differently during these two phases.

  • Lapse: I define a lapse as a forgotten repetition after the first successful repetition—i.e. you did remember it, but then you forgot.
