OpenStax

Non-profit out of Rice University creating permissively-licensed online textbooks. They started by covering the 25 most popular undergraduate courses; now they’ve expanded to many other topics.

OpenStax

Recommended to me initially by Kumar Garg.

Hm… it seems they’re doing experiments on Retrieval practice! They’ve developed something called “OpenStax Tutor”, with support in 10 of their books.

And:

Automatic question generation
Our goal is to extract the base knowledge components from OpenStax textbooks and construct meaningful questions that can be used for practice by students. We’ve been able to generate simple recall questions across various formats including simple multiple choice, true/false, and choose-all-that-apply questions.

Wow: we sound quite aligned, actually, except perhaps for the educationalism.
