That’s true in a narrow sense for my own projects (My work has no model for turning marginal capital into marginal insight), but it’s true in a broader sense: if I were a “Tools for thought” program officer for some grant making agency, I wouldn’t be able to deploy much capital. There just aren’t enough people who can credibly make progress in this field.
It seems likely that we’ll first need a wave of people making reliable progress and developing shared practices which can become a real proto-field. In the short term, my time is better spent working towards building real velocity on my own projects, rather than working at the meta-level.
