B. F. Skinner

Pioneer of radical Behaviorism, which extends John Watson’s conception of behaviorism to include covert behaviors like emotion and cognition, without accepting mental phenomena as causes of physical behaviors. He extended the theory of Classical conditioning to Operant conditioning, which tries to account for a broader range of human behavior.

Lived 1904-1990.

B.F. Skinner tried to use these principles to create smart bombs, piloted by pigeons! His book, “Walden Two,” suggests that humans are just like the pigeons: who they are is a result of what’s reinforced and what’s punished in their environment.
