Wade-Stein, D., & Kintsch, E. (2004). Summary Street: Interactive Computer Support for Writing. Cognition and Instruction, 22(3), 333–362

To help sixth graders improve their writing, the authors developed an LSA-based system for automatically providing feedback on 100-250 word text summaries. They’re not really trying to produce the Self-explanation effect, I think; it’s more focused on being a writing tutor. Still, it’s relevant insofar as one might want to see feedback for that effect.

The form of the feedback seems pretty awful to me.
